Terms of Service
Last updated: 2 September 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Lingwei Wu (ABN 24 426 726 719), trading as Arasso (“Arasso”, “we”, “us”), for your use of the Arasso desktop application and the arasso.im website (together, the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to these terms.
1. The Service
Arasso provides real-time transcription and translation of the audio playing on your computer — typically meetings and calls — displayed as captions in an on-screen overlay, and, where available, a speech-to-speech interpreter that speaks a synthesised translation of your voice into your meeting. The Service is currently in beta: features may change, and occasional interruptions or inaccuracies — including transcription, translation, and interpretation errors — are expected. Do not rely on captions or interpretation where a misunderstanding could cause harm.
2. Accounts
You must provide a valid email address to create an account, and you are responsible for activity that occurs under it. Your account is personal to you and is for use by one person. Keep your sign-in method (email inbox or Google account) secure. You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service; if you are under 18, you confirm a parent or guardian has agreed to these terms on your behalf.
3. Subscriptions and billing
- Paid plans are billed in advance on a monthly or yearly basis via Stripe, and renew automatically until cancelled.
- You can cancel anytime from the billing portal; your plan remains active until the end of the current billing period.
- Any free allowance is granted at our discretion, per account and per device, and we may change or withdraw it at any time.
- We may limit concurrent use of your account, including the number of devices that can use the Service at the same time.
- If we change prices, the new price applies from your next billing period, and we will notify you in advance.
- Refunds are handled under our Refund Policy, which we may update from time to time.
- Interpreter hours are metered by the clock while the interpreter is running. When your hours run out, the sentence being interpreted is allowed to finish before the interpreter stops; that time counts against your balance, so it may briefly fall a few seconds below zero and the shortfall is deducted from your next purchase of hours.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service to violate any law or the rights of others, including recording or monitoring others’ communications where you do not have the right to do so;
- resell, sublicense, or provide the Service to third parties as a service;
- create more than one account, or use another person’s account, to obtain additional free allowance or to circumvent any limit, suspension, or charge;
- attempt to probe, disrupt, reverse engineer, or gain unauthorised access to the Service or its infrastructure, except to the extent such a restriction is not permitted by law.
These are examples of unacceptable use and are not an exhaustive list.
5. Third-party meeting platforms
Arasso is an independent product. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Zoom, Microsoft, Google, Cisco, or any other meeting or communication platform. Platform names are trademarks of their respective owners.
Arasso works with the audio your computer plays and, for the interpreter, with a virtual microphone device on your computer. It does not join your meetings as a participant, use the platforms’ APIs, or modify their software. Meeting platforms set their own rules on recording, transcription, and virtual audio devices, and these can change. You are responsible for ensuring your use of Arasso complies with the terms of the platforms you use and with the consent and recording laws that apply to you, and you use the Service alongside third-party platforms at your own risk.
6. Intellectual property
We own the Service, including its software, branding, and content (excluding your data). We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the app for your own use, subject to these terms and any limits we apply, while these terms are in effect. Transcripts and translations generated from your sessions are yours to use.
7. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect and how we handle it, including how meeting audio and, in interpreter mode, your microphone audio are processed.
8. Disclaimers and liability
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that cannot be excluded. Where our liability can be limited, it is limited (at our election) to re-supplying the Service or paying the cost of re-supply, and our total liability to you is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. To the extent permitted by law, the Service is otherwise provided “as is”, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for actions taken by meeting platforms or other third parties in connection with your use of the Service alongside their software.
9. Suspension and termination
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time.
We may suspend or terminate your access, withdraw any free allowance, and close accounts we consider to be linked to yours, if we reasonably consider that you have breached these terms or are circumventing any limit or charge. Where the breach is serious or ongoing we may act without prior notice, and fees already paid are not refunded.
If we suspend or terminate your access for any other reason, including where we are required to do so by law, or if we discontinue the Service, we will give reasonable notice where we can and refund the unused portion of any prepaid period.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the Service evolves. We will post the updated version on this page and update the date above; material changes will be notified in the app or by email. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Australian Capital Territory, Australia, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that territory.
